Thai Basil Beef 🌿

Ready in less than 30 minutes and exploding with flavour! This simple Thai recipe is about to become a staple in your homes! The freshness and sweetness from the basil and heat from the chillies just give it the perfect balance. 🌶

Ingredients – serves 4
2 tbsp Sesame oil or any other cooking oil
500g Beef mince (or chicken mince)
1 cup Fine green beans, trimmed and diced.
1 Medium Onion, diced
7 Garlic gloves, minced or grated
1 inch piece Ginger, finely grated
30g Basil leaves
2 Thai red chillies, deseeded – finely sliced
3 tbsp Dark soya sauce
2 tbsp Oyster sauce
1 tbsp Fish sauce
1 tbsp Brown sugar
1 tsp Corn flour (mix in with 1/4 cup water)
1 Lime, cut into wedges (to serve)
Fried eggs (to serve, optional)

Method
Step 1 – In a wok or large frying pan, on medium heat, add the oil, once hot, add the garlic, ginger, red chillies and onions. Sauté until the onions have softened. Next, add in the mince and stir fry on high heat until browned.

Step 2 – In a small bowl, combine the corn flour slurry, soya sauce, oyster sauce, sugar and fish sauce. Add this mixture to the mince along with the green beans. Mix in well and simmer for 15 mins. Now add the basil leaves and stir.

That’s it!! Serve with freshly cooked rice, a fried egg and lime wedges! Enjoy 🥢
