For all the rice loverrrssss!
An easy, tasty and fragrant rice dish that goes well with curries or just as it is with some raita! 🍚 A Pakistani favourite 💚

Ingredients – serves 4
2 cups Basmati rice (washed, soaked for 30 minutes)
1 cup Frozen peas
1/4 cup Corn oil
1 Onion, finely sliced
3 Garlic cloves, minced or grated
1/2 inch piece Ginger, finely grated
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Black peppercorns
Cinnamon stick (1 inch)
1 Bay leaf
1 Dried Red chilli
2 1/2 tsp Salt (or to taste)
4 cups Water

Method
Step 1 – In a medium sized pot, on medium heat, add the oil, once hot, add the onions. Fry till golden brown. Next add the cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns bay leaf, and chilli. Fry for 20 seconds. Now add the garlic and ginger and fry till fragrant.

Step 2 – Add the peas and stir fry for a minute. Now add the rice, water and salt. Mix gently. Turn the heat to high and bring to a boil. Now cover the pot, bring the heat down and simmer for 10 minutes.
Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve!
