iced cherry matcha latte, made with cherry jam, matcha, and oat milk!

I used @bonnemaman_us cherry preserves (although I do think jam would have mixed in better, you can use any flavor). The matcha I use is my fave fave fave @ippodoteausa.

Matcha is a green tea drink that originated in Japan, and it goes beyond just being a drink. The Japanese tea ceremony is a choreographic ritual of preparing and serving matcha that involves certain etiquette and aesthetics. This isn’t a traditional preparation of matcha — it’s just my own fun spin!

I prefer drinking matcha to coffee because it gives me an energy boost without any anxious jitters or drastic spike and crash in energy. That’s because matcha still has caffeine, but it also contains l-theanine, a calming amino acid that keeps everything feeling steady.

RECIPE
1/2 tsp – 1 1/2 tsp matcha
1/2 cup hot water
Spoonful of cherry jam
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup oat milk

Sift your matcha to get rid of any clumps, and add it to a smooth bottomed bowl. Add your hot (but not boiling) water, and using a matcha whisk, whisk until frothy (If you need some tips on how to do this, I recommend checking out queen @matcha_mommy).

Add jam to a glass, and top with some ice cubes. Add the matcha, and top with oat milk. Mix together, and enjoy!
