Goan Fish Curry 🌿

This aromatic tomato and coconut based curry is a DREAM. Goan fish curry is popular near and far, and rightfully so! If you’re a fan of fish curries, you are going to love this!

Ingredients – serves 4
2 tbsp Oil
600g Cod cheeks, cut into chunks from @seafoodbysykes (Ad)
400ml Coconut milk
1/2 tsp Brown mustard seeds
1 tbsp Tomato purée
1 tsp Tamarind paste
Salt to taste
1 tsp Corn flour, mixed into a little water (optional for thickness)
Fresh coriander, finely chopped
1 Green chilli, finely sliced

For the curry paste-
1 tbsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder
1 tsp Coriander seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 Tomato, roughly chopped
1 Red onion, roughly chopped
1-2 tbsp water, to loosen up the paste

Method
Step 1 – Add the curry paste ingredients to a blender/chopper and blitz till smooth.

Step 2 – In a large pot, on medium heat, add the oil, once hot, add the mustard seeds, fry for 10 seconds. Now add the curry paste and sauté until fragrant. Add the tomato purée and tamarind paste and sauté for a further 1 minute.

Step 3 – Next add the coconut milk, and salt. Stir well and bring to a slight boil. Now add the cod pieces, bring the heat down to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 4 – Remove from the heat and garnish with fresh coriander and green chillies. Serve with naan or basmati rice! Enjoy
