finally got some wedding photos back 🥰

grant & I got married at a little restaurant in Topanga Canyon with just our immediate family present.

I love love love being a guest weddings — in a world where we deal with so much grief and heartbreak, celebrating two people loving each other deeply and intertwining their lives together is very special and should be relished. I always cry, laugh, drink, dance, and revel at the beauty of celebrating something so positive.

but weddings are also very personal. I never fantasized about a big, fairytale wedding, but I did picture myself up at the altar, and I always imagined the nerves and self-consciousness I would feel saying “I do” with everyone’s eyeballs on me. so I decided years ago I wanted our ceremony to be something very intimate and private so that I could fully relax and enjoy the moment without worrying about everything else distracting me.

and during our ceremony two months ago, I was as present as can be. yes, getting ready and taking photos before the ceremony beforehand was a little bit chaotic, especially with my loud & boisterous family. but the calmest, most beautiful part was our actual ceremony, and I could not have pictured doing it any other way. both of our dads officiated the ceremony, and it felt completely tailored to us.

we still got to celebrate with our friends and family a few days later (although atl fam — we will still make it happen. we unfortunately had to cancel that one last minute because grant got covid after our la celebration), and all in all, it was everything I could have asked for and more. whether you want a big extravaganza or a courthouse wedding (which are both acceptable) all that matters is that you’re doing something that fits what YOU want, not what everyone else tells you you want.

love you forever @grantprettyman!
