Chinese Orange Chicken

Crispy, tangy, sticky, ORANGE CHICKEN. 🍊

Ingredients
4 tbsp Vegetable oil
8 Boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite size pieces
1/4 cup Corn flour
1 tsp Ground black pepper
1 tsp Garlic powder/granules
1/2 tsp Ginger powder
1/2 tsp Salt

For the sauce
1 cup Fresh Orange juice
1/2 tsp Garlic paste
1/4 tsp Ginger paste
5 tbsp Dark soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp Rice vinegar or white vinegar
5 tbsp Brown sugar
1 tbsp Corn flour mixed into 3 tbsp water (slurry)
The zest of one orange.

Garnish –
Sliced spring onion greens (optional)

Method –
Step 1 – In a large bowl add the chicken pieces. Now add the corn flour, black pepper, garlic powder, ginger powder and salt. Mix to coat well.

Step 2 – In a large wok, on high heat, add the oil. Once hot, Add some of the chicken pieces, do not overcrowd the wok. Stir fry until golden and cooked through. (8-10 minutes). Remove from the wok and set aside.

Step 3 – Discard the oil from the wok. On low heat, in the same wok, add the orange juice,soy sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar and sugar. Stir to combine. Now add the corn flour slurry, keep stirring until the sauce has thickened. One it has thickened add the orange zest and turn off the heat. Add the chicken to the sauce and stir well to coat.

Step 4 – Top with Spring onion greens. (Optional). Serve immediately with sticky rice or rice of your choice! Enjoy!
